Okay, so the two most popular designs were d2 (but with puffy sleeves!) and B2 (with d2's hair.)
Here they are, back in a static pose., and with a few tweaks.
Did the two weeks off give you any fresh insights? I still think we aren't quite PRINCESS-y enough...
D2 is on the left, B2 on the right. Tomorrow is WILD CARD Princess Batman Day--I'm going to throw out some fresh concepts, we'll see if any of them add to D2 and B2. Then we'll take her to final!
D2 seems more feminine; B2 more tom boy. So I sort of like the look of D2 better, but B2 looks like she would fight much better.
ReplyDeleteUtility belt?
I see your point about princess-y-ness. These seem to be more goth-batman-y than princess. I'm trying to ask myself what makes someone look like a princess. I'm thinking, she needs better hair with more curl or body. She needs a little more trim on her dress: maybe a couple hanging swaths of fabric, or a lace border, or a couple layers. And maybe one of her weapons could be a parasol? Or is that too Penguin-y?
ReplyDeleteI still like these images. I think they would make a good contrast to the frilly, non-crime-fighter images you could come up with. That is one of the aspects of Batman--rich and flashy by day, dark and deadly by night.
(After reading through my comment, maybe to make something princess-y you just need to add a "y" to the ends of a bunch of words.)
It just now occurred to me that not all bats are black. There are fuzzy little Honduran bats that are white and pink. But changing her dress colour to white would entirely take away from the stealth of night...
ReplyDeleteI like John's idea of giving her hair with body.
Currently I like D2 best; her dress shape is too perfect.
Personally I was partial to the version shoulder length blond hair....
ReplyDeleteIs there a way to to get a utility 'something' (a belt, a bodice, something befitting the era-esque feel)and throw that into the outfit.
ReplyDeleteWhat could you add that would be both princessy and allow a dual function, belying her dual natures?
(This is why my daughter never likes it when I go costume shopping with her.)
She needs ballet slippers and a tutu under her skirt!
ReplyDeleteJUST kidding!
I agree, more bounce to her hair and maybe she needs a trimmed skirt and more yellow to help come away from the Gothic era look.
WELL, not more.
Just specks here and there in certain ways to make her seem brighter in a sense that she doesn't look like someone has died. Like the first one's boot buttons could be yellow, and her belt/or/trim. And the other one could have yellow tights and a yellow utility belt.
I think yellow pigtail holders, and the pigtails being curled would be cute too!
....
Just a bit of input. She, in both forms, is very cute and I think she looks like any good princess should--ready for action! No one's stealing HER throne, that's for sure!!!! ;D
I love D2's dress . . . wait I sound like a picky dress designer now . . . ewww.
ReplyDeleteOf these two I actually like D2 better. I do like the idea of a little more yellow--maybe change up some of the gray trim to yellow instead? But that could defeat some of the stealth purpose.
ReplyDeleteThis process is so fun! I am excited to see what wildcard options you add in tomorrow!
D2 is totally my favorite! I'm glad you brought back the heart on the cross strap. :) FUN!!!
ReplyDeleteThese are the two faves at my house.
ReplyDeleteMaggie votes black boots over the other boots "because I don't like the dots."
