The Waiting Swamp p.16

I couldn't resist. I was planning on just showing the cover yesterday, but I had these opening lines running through my head all day. I had to take a one-day detour into Yellowbelly's "Burger Bug" story.

I'm still playing deadline catch-up and battling a cold. This bug will not go away! I even went as far as buying a bottle of Mucinex (the off-brand version, I refuse to buy the real thing because the commercials with the snot-people are the grossest thing on tv. Boycott! I'm boycotting the snot-people!)

I thought I'd wrap this story this week, but It looks like it may spill into next week.

The Waiting Swamp p.13

The break last Friday was helpful--sorry to leave you all hanging. I'm planning on wrapping up this chapter of The Land of Doom this week. Then we'll start something new, not The Fort That Got Me Grounded, that'll come later. I have two projects I want to do before that, but we'll get to the Fort, don't worry.

Deadline Overload!

Last Friday was a sick day. This Friday is nothing short of a deadline APOCALYPSE! Frankly, it's because of the sick days that I'm now playing catch up on my deadlines. My carefully managed calendar has been thrown out of whack! The ripple effect of a few sick days threatens to shake my whole system down! Gaaaaaaah!

Back next week. A few late nights should get me back on track again. Have a good weekend. I know I won't!

Sick Day!

Hey gang. A bad combo of deadlines and fever has made tonight's post too much of a chore. I'm taking a sick day. See you on Monday. I'm going to bathe in a vat of TheraFlu.

You know that part at the beginning of The Empire Strikes Back, where Luke Skywalker is recovering from his wounds inside some kind of weird water-tube-chamber? I wish I had one of those water tubes. I'd hang out in that thing all day--fill it with Night-time TheraFlu and just live in there.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

I thought everyone could use a break from the oppressive redness of The Waiting Swamp. Be back tomorrow though. Happy St. Patty's.

And the Winner is....

"The Fort That Got Me Grounded" is the clear winner in the Picture Book Marathon favorite vote. It is now being tightened, revised and overhauled. Soon you will see the whole story posted here on the blog! Thank you for voting, and for your great comments! I loved hearing what you all thought of this year's PBM stories. Hopefully, the winning story will live up to your expectations.

Now back to the Land of Doom...actually, you'll have to wait until tomorrow for the next installment. Today's announcement was so big, it had to have it's own day.

The Waiting Swamp p.1

It looks like "The Fort That Got Me Grounded" is the front-runner in the PBM voting right now. Make sure to cast your vote, if you haven't yet. The winner will be announced Monday, so you have until then to leave a voting comment.

Now that the marathon is over, I'm back to the weekday only posting schedule. Sweet, sweet post-free weekends, how I've missed them. See you Monday!

That's right, we're going back into The Land of Doom. Hold on tight.

If you don't know what The Land of Doom is, or if you just want a refresher before heading into part 2, link back to the February '10 archive. You will see the full Land of Doom story mixed in with last year's PBM. Scroll down and read up. I've been meaning to build a dedicated blog page for the whole thing, but I haven't gotten around to it. One of these days...

If you haven't voted on the Picture Book Marathon yet, please do. Post your favorite in yesterdays VOTING comment section. It'll stay open for the rest of this week.

Picture Book Marathon VOTING NOW OPEN!

The Picture Book Marathon is over! I had fun! Twenty-six books; some were good, some were bad, and some were dumb--but I think they were all fun. What do you think? Any favorites? Now is the time to pick your #1 book.

Write your favorite into the comments section. (That's right all you Google Reader followers--you have to come to the actual blog site.) I was going to use one of those polling widgets, where you just click the button next to your favorite title. But then I realized how much I like reading your voting comments. So write them in, tell me what you liked, give me an earful!

The book(s?) with the most votes will get a full, 32 page, Percy-esque treatment here at the Station.

I'll leave the voting open for the rest of the week. Be back tomorrow for something new--a brand new story I think you will like.
