And now back to our story....almost

Oh boy, this is exciting--it's an all text day! I'll get right back into the "Sgt. Snookums" story tomorrow. I'm trying to change a few things here on the site. Nothing you'd notice, really, just my schedule for when things get posted. Since I started, I've always done the blog post at the end of the day, the last thing before going to sleep. I'm now going to try to do it very early in the morning.

I've been a full-time freelancer for five years now. One of the trickiest parts of freelance work is defining and controlling your schedule, especially when you have young kids at home. I've tried a lot of variations on my workday. Late nights, really late nights, and even the famous flipped schedule of sleeping during the day and working at night. They've all worked out to some degree, but I'm still trying to find the perfect schedule. I'm going to try the extremely early morning approach now. I may fail miserably.

I'm changing up my schedule because I've got a HUGE new project coming up. It's been in negotiations for the last four months, but it is finally going to happen. The contracts are signed and sent, when I get them back, I'll announce it here. I'll give you a hint: It was born on this blog. Any guesses?

See you Monday morning.

  1. I can safely say that Jurassic Water Park is not the project. JWP is still a free agent.

  2. I hope it's Chuck. I love that little guy.

  3. JWP? no :-(
Goldilocks and the 300 Bears? Sadly no.

It's the top secret Stair Cow project.
Does that mean you get to tell us what it is?

  4. I'm guessing Brick Town Cop or The Paleo Bowl.

  5. Interesting guesses. I won't say yes or no--then you'd eventually figure it out. But some of these are really surprising--Meredith, I can honestly say I've never even considered CHUCK as a viable book, but now you've got me thinking...really thinking...(so no, it's not CHUCK.)

STAIR COW will be revealed soon, hopefully someone's close to picking that one up, and no, I still can't reveal that one. (it's fun to be so secretive!)

BRICK TOWN COP is mostly likely a no-go, LEGO already beat me to the punch on that. They made a movie, THE ADVENTURES OF CLUTCH POWERS. Which, coincidentally, came out February, the very month of the picture book marathon. CLUTCH POWERS is basically a cop in a brick town. Yes, I've watched it. Two times.

  8. There are so many I want it to be! Since my last guesses were shot down, I'm going with "No Touch the Ground."

  9. Is it Dino-Jokes? (Making it 5,000,000,001 picture books for Rick Walton.)

  10. I'm hoping it's a Louis and Clark book--I really want more of that! Or is it a syndicated comic?

  11. Boy, have I been out of touch. By now you may have announced, but I'm hoping for the Yellowbelly and Plum comic.

It could be Zombeans, but I plan on stealing that idea and claiming it as my own.
