Yellowbelly and Dean Go Trick or Treating 5

Sorry about the late post, everybody. It's just that this comic was too scary to work on at night.

Yellowbelly and Dean Go Trick or Treating

Today's comic is a smidge late. Blogger was on the fritz last night--strange day for computers yesterday. First, I had some Photoshop issues, then my internet provider crashed, then Blogger went down--all in one day. Wacky.

In otter news (hey, that wasn't intentional, but I am SO claiming "In Otter News" as mine, a news show, starring otters. YES! I copyright that right now!) Rapunzel's Revenge won the Utah Book Award last night in the children's book category. Hooray for Utah and Hooray for Rapunzel!

My Idea for a Saturday Morning Cartoon 9

Before we move on to the cliffhanger finale of the story, I have something new on my bulletin board:

No, not the EXCLUSIVE MINIFIGURE postcard, the shiny certificate! CALAMITY JACK is a Junior Library Guild Selection for Fall '09! I'd like to say "Thank you," to all the Junior Librarians who chose it.

Now, on with the show:

End of Season 1.
Stay tuned for the next segment: THE SPACE WEED, coming in November!

Back tomorrow with a new guest--I mean story. I've said too much.

Christmas Dinos on the Cheap (again)

The Dinosaurs' Night Before Christmas hardcover can be had for $9 on Amazon again--50% off the 18.99 cover price. Last time they did this it only lasted a day or two. So dinosaur up!
[UPDATE: Wow, gone already? Now it's at $12--those Amazon book-pricing elves are squirrelly!]

Saturday in Orem: RAPUNZEL'S REVENGE Posters for All!

I'm doing my illustration presentation at the Orem Library (Utah) tomorrow (Sat.) at 11 (AM.) I'll have a big stack of Rapunzel posters for all comers. It's for librarians, but all are welcome! Swing on by!

My Idea for a Saturday Morning Cartoon 2

Thank you for your patience, the blog is now updated with new graphics and a larger art format (what do you think?) I have been rafting the Westwater rapids of the Colorado River. It was a high-speed, one-night trip. It was extremely fun, very cold and over way too quick. (Special thanks to Greg for the invite!)

Things should now run smoothly, we're back on track!

Agh! Technical Delays on Tuesday's Post

Hi Gang, I spent all my blog time today trying to revamp the site! I ran out of time to get the actual post up. See, I was invited on a quick river trip in Moab, now I have to leave (five minutes ago!) When you are a freelancer, you have to take your vacations when you can get them, today I don't have any killer deadlines, so I'm jumping.

I'll be back on Wednesday (possibly sooner) with the next installment. Sorry everybody!

Pardon the Confusion

Hey everybody--I'm giving the blog a little overhaul here. Trying to set it up so that the artwork is LARGER. I've figured that out, see today's post? Nice and big huh? Now I just have to make the rest of the blog look good. It'll be all over the place for the next week or so. Hang in there, and let me know if you have any viewing issues--or helpful tips (I'm no web-designer...I welcome any advice!)

My Idea for a Saturday Morning Cartoon 1

And now for something completely different, some straight up fiction--science fiction. This is my concept for a saturday morning cartoon, in weekday blog comic form.

Race Wrap-up

Nobody likes to hear stories about marathons, not even other runners--it's a tedious subject. But indulge me today, then we'll get right into a brand new story.

My time was 4:21. I was fairly sure I wasn't going to match last year's (awesome) time--but I didn't think I'd slip by over half an hour! My training was a little slack this year, I didn't take it as seriously as I have in the past. You get what you train for, I guess.

Here's my loot--with a cameo from LEGO William Clark to make it more exciting:

What's up with this year's medal? What is that thing? An exclamation mark? A grenade? An atomic bomb? A shoe--is it a shoe?

This year's highlight; the starting line.

Imagine 6,200 people huddled together in the desert at 5:00 in the morning. No cars, no bikes, no children--no buildings for miles. Each person has a single white plastic bag for their stuff and nothing else. It's freezing cold, so there are giant bonfires. This year, there was a full moon.

Yeah, it was all downhill after that.

DINO-JOKES 8 The End

And that wraps it up for the DINO-JOKES (for now)--I hope you've had geological epochs of laughter.

A special thanks to Rick Walton for providing the writing. Make sure to visit his website at www.rickwalton.com for more crazy jokes and stories.

Have a great weekend! I'm headed south, to run the St. George Marathon (my fifth one, well, fifth St. George, sixth marathon. bragbragbrag. The joke's on me though, I still qualify for "Clydesdale Class.") Last year I ran a cool 3:48--this year I'm pretty sure I'll do worse. Wish me luck!
